Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe
Marina de Bas-du-Fort · Every 4 years, start from Saint-Malo in late October to early November, arrival in Guadeloupe during November
Founded in 1978, the Route du Rhum links Saint-Malo in Brittany to Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe, singlehanded and non-stop. Held every four years and open only to solo skippers, it brings together several boat classes (including Ultim trimarans, IMOCA and Class40) over a transatlantic course of roughly 3,500 nautical miles. Marina de Bas-du-Fort, the oldest marina in Guadeloupe, was built in 1977 specifically to host the very first edition of the race in 1978, and continues to welcome the boats on arrival: its official operator, Guadeloupe Port Caraibes, states on its own website that it "hosts internationally renowned sailing races, including the legendary Route du Rhum". The 13th edition is set for November 2026, with the start from Saint-Malo fixed for November 1st at 1:02pm.
