Founded in the 1970s by architect and artist Jackson Burnside III and his wife Pam, Doongalik Studios & Art Gallery is now run by Pam Burnside and their daughter Orchid, on Village Road at the eastern end of Nassau. The gallery exhibits and sells works by dozens of Bahamian artists year-round (paintings, sculpture, ceramics, quilts), set in a tropical garden of palms and fruit trees. Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, or by appointment (+1 242 394 1886, doongalik.com), with no ticketing platform or intermediary. Jackson Burnside predicted that visitors would one day come to the Bahamas as much for its art as for sun and sea, a conviction that shaped the gallery's founding (source: doongalik.com, About page).
