Bodega Hoyos de Bandama, the family winery at the edge of the caldera

A family winery at the gate of the Bandama Caldera above Las Palmas, whose guided visit and tasting are arranged by phone with the bodega itself.

The Bodega Hoyos de Bandama stands on Camino a la Caldera in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, at the gate of the Bandama Caldera. According to its official website, the De la Coba family, who came to Gran Canaria in the 16th century from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, has worked land and vines in Las Palmas, Santa Brígida and Bandama, and the present winery stems from a family bodega more than 300 years old. The site also presents the bodega as the first to bottle under the new Vino de Calidad de las Islas Canarias designation (FITUR invitation, 2013). Announced services include guided visits of the bodega, tastings of its wines and tailored events. A local guide states that a full visit with tasting is booked by phone, and that its wines are DO Islas Canarias (local grapes and must imported from Tenerife). No price or time slot is repeated here: arrangements are made directly with the bodega (tel. 630 47 27 53 or 928 35 38 93).
