On Denarau Island, a few minutes from the marina, Denarau Golf & Racquet Club runs Fiji's only 18 hole course, designed in 1993 by Japanese architect Eiichi Motohashi over former mangrove swamp, with water hazards on fifteen of its eighteen holes. Beyond a standard round, the club arranges, by quote and directly with its events team, the privatisation of the course or its facilities for a group: the Heineken House restaurant for a private dinner, or the adjoining Sheraton farm (vegetable and herb gardens, guided visit) for a countryside lunch away from the offerings open to the general public.
