Rozana's Batik, a private introduction to the art of batik

A private, hands-on introduction to hand-painted batik with artist Rozana Mohamed, in her gallery-boutique on Lebuh Acheh (George Town's UNESCO heritage core).

In a small shophouse on Lebuh Acheh, in the heart of George Town's UNESCO-listed heritage core, batik artist Rozana Mohamed welcomes visitors into her gallery-boutique for a personal, hands-on introduction to hand-painted batik. A 1988 fine-arts graduate of UiTM, she demonstrates the wax-tracing (canting) and dyeing process herself, and each guest leaves with their own finished piece made under her guidance. Two of her works, Rimbun and Di Ampaian, are held in the virtual gallery collection of Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund (source: galeri.khazanah.com.my). Unlike the island's mass-tourism batik attractions sold through group circuits, this remains an address held by a recognised individual artist, with no online ticketing.
