Alternative Performance Yachting (APY)

Alternative Performance Yachting, also known as APY Rigging, is a rigging workshop located at 893 avenue du Peyrat, ZA du Grand Pont, in Grimaud, at the head of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. The company is led by Guillaume Khelstovsky, a former captain on prestigious yachts, specialising in the refurbishment and manufacture of standing rigging. APY supports cruising catamarans, racing monohulls and long ocean passage projects.

Its core business covers the whole mast and rigging assembly. On the mast: visual inspection of the section and its fittings, repair of a damaged section to the manufacturer's specifications, replacement by a bare section or by a complete mast, original or custom. On the standing rigging: detailed visual inspection using polishing or dye penetrant testing, then partial or complete manufacture in the workshop or through the manufacturer. On the running rigging: inspection of the ropes, like-for-like replacement, optimisation using current technologies, splices and oversheathing.

Inspection is structured in three levels: visual inspection with the mast stepped once a year, visual inspection with the rigging slackened every five years, and full inspection with the mast unstepped every six to ten years. Each intervention is followed by a detailed report illustrated with photographs, and the cost of the annual visual inspection is deducted if work is then carried out. APY also works on deck layout, with lazy bags, removable inner forestays, electric winches or single-line reefing, and on deck hardware: winches, kicking straps, windlasses, furlers, backstays and hydraulic rams.

The workshop also offers optimisation and refitting, technical assistance, site supervision and project management, from construction through to delivery as well as on a new production yacht. Custom moulded composite parts, bowsprits or dolphin strikers, are made in its workshops. For racing, notably under IRC, APY works with design offices on performance optimisation. Winter storage, checking and storage of sails complete the offer, together with maintenance of the deck, the rigging and the underwater sections. APY is the exclusive dealer for BSI and Marlow in the gulf.
