Gwen Marine La Rochelle is the La Rochelle branch of Gwen Marine Service, a marine propulsion specialist covering western France. Founded by Gwenaël Rambaud and established at Port Olona in Les Sables-d'Olonne in 2003, the group opened its La Rochelle operation in 2010 by taking over the Guay Robert business. Located on rue de la Scierie, in the Les Minimes district, the branch serves leisure boat owners as well as boatyards and professional customers in the harbour.
The work covers the complete propulsion train. For leisure boating, the team installs and services Suzuki Marine outboards, Volvo Penta and Nanni inboards and full propulsion systems, with particular attention to acoustic comfort on sailing yachts and to repowering older hulls with newer, cleaner solutions. For commercial marine customers, Gwen Marine Service runs repowering and retrofit projects, from technical audit through to implementation, including hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems. The company also works on industrial engines (power generation, agriculture, civil engineering and handling, quarrying, forestry), with diagnostics, servicing, repair and repowering.
Engine servicing and repair are available six days a week, with diagnostics, genuine parts and breakdown support. Sales cover new, remanufactured and used engines, alongside generators, generating sets, motor pumps, transmissions and marine accessories. The group's REMAN division offers remanufactured engines and certified used parts, following a circular economy approach with controlled budgets.
Gwen Marine Service presents itself as an official distributor for Volvo Penta, Nanni, Suzuki and Kohler, and also works with ZF. The group achieved Volvo Penta Center Plus status in 2018 and has had a certified mobile technician for on-site work since 2019. Its technicians follow manufacturer training on an ongoing basis, and a very broad parts catalogue, largely available from immediate stock, helps keep downtime short.
