Iroise Gréement has practised the rigger's trade in Brest since 1993, in the port industrial zone at 520 rue Alain Colas. The company works with cruising sailors and offshore racing teams alike, from the small dinghy to the maxi multihull. Jean-Baptiste Péron manages the business, Jean-Marc Moal, a rigger for more than fifteen years, handles cable refurbishment and standing rigging, and Vincent works on spars.
Standing rigging rests on a substantial stock of stainless steel cable and terminals, which makes it possible to build cables to pattern and to carry out complete refits. Running rigging is built from Gottifredi Maffioli ropes, one of the references in the field, and the workshop carries out every kind of ropework on its dedicated splicing floor. On the spar side, the team handles every type of mast and furler, restores them and takes charge of unstepping and stepping operations, with painting available.
Support goes beyond supply. Iroise Gréement follows new build and refit projects, including changes to the sail plan, chainplates and deck. Rig tuning allows the balance of the boat to be checked, and diagnostics give a precise picture of the mast's condition, using dye penetrant testing, radiography or ultrasound. The workshop also makes bespoke nets in polyester or Dyneema for catamarans, guard rails and interior fit out, and offers a maintenance plan drawn up from each owner's sailing history and budget.
The rigging workshop covers 400 sqm and takes masts up to 25 metres. The shop carries a wide choice of Gottifredi Maffioli ropes and Harken, Spinlock, Wichard, Facnor and Profurl deck hardware, and the company works with mast and spar builders AG+ Spars, Sparcraft, Z-Spars, Seldén Mast, Antal and ACMO. Parts are shipped throughout France and internationally.
