LELU Marine

LELU Marine is based at 4 boulevard Jean-Pierre Calloch in Lorient, Brittany. LE LU et Cie was founded in 1973 around the mechanics of working vessels (fishing boats, pilot boats, tugs) and has been a Volvo Penta agent since 1974. Franck Lauféron and his team welcome customers Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm or by appointment, in French and in English.

Marine engines remain the historic core business: servicing, repair, winterisation and sales of inboard and outboard engines. The scope covers the whole propulsion train, from the fuel tank to the propeller, as well as the steering system, mechanical or hydraulic. The Volvo Penta inboard range runs from compact diesels to Aquamatic and IPS units; the Suzuki Marine outboard range covers portable engines, service engines and outputs from 40 to 300 hp. A spare parts shop and listings of used engines complete the offer, and the workshop can work on any engine brand.

The company also runs a precision machining shop: four conventional lathes, one of them very large, and two milling machines including a CNC unit, serving industry and the marine trade alike, in steel, stainless steel, titanium or plastics. Metalwork is a long-standing skill: welded assemblies for shipbuilding and industry, galvanised steel cradles, stainless steel pulpits and gantries, davits, handling trolleys, and the making and repair of deck hardware (centreboards, fairleads, pad eyes, hull reinforcements), from design through to fitting on board. LELU Marine also distributes Sun-Way boat trailers, the Galaxy and fully submersible Fast ranges, with servicing, repair and spare parts.

Approvals are clearly stated: Volvo Penta agent, Suzuki Marine dealer, approved reseller and installer for Webasto (onboard heating and air conditioning), and exclusive distributor of Castrol Marine oils and greases for the whole of France, with Castrol engineers supporting lubricant selection. Lorient Marine also entrusts LELU Marine with its fit-outs: propulsion, electrics and electronics, stainless steel equipment.
