Founded in 2007 by Nicolas Pelisson, Marinescence is a recruitment agency dedicated to the yachting industry. It is based in Vallauris on the French Riviera, a location chosen for its equal distance from the region's main yachting harbours. The team brings together recruitment consultants, former captains and legal and administrative specialists.

Yachting recruitment is the core business. The agency covers the full range of onboard functions: captain, first officer, deck officers, bosun and deckhands on the deck side, chief engineer, second engineer and electro-technical officer in the engine room, chief stewardess, stewards and service staff for the interior, head chef, as well as the dual-function roles suited to smaller vessels. The process runs in six stages: needs analysis and job description, sourcing with certificate checks and reference taking, individual interviews, presentation of a shortlist, then support through embarkation. Marinescence has also extended its expertise to land-based recruitment.

The crew employment and payroll division supports owners throughout the life of the contract: drafting seafarer employment agreements, running payroll and issuing pay slips, handling social security matters, organising schedules, rotations and travel logistics, insurance, medical follow-up and end-of-contract formalities. Depending on the arrangement chosen, the company acts either as the owner's agent or as the seafarers' direct employer, with associated legal and regulatory support.

For seafarers, the website publishes current vacancies, detailed job descriptions, a salary guideline, advice on writing a CV, plus guidance for candidates new to yachting. The candidate database is updated daily and profiles are checked in line with industry practice. Marinescence places its activity within the framework of the Maritime Labour Convention MLC 2006 and has registered its data processing with the CNIL.
