Founded in 1992, Starvoiles is based at 98 rue Lagrua in La Teste-de-Buch, on the southern shore of the Arcachon basin. Jérôme Dupin runs the company, its design office and sales, Valérie Dupin handles administration and human resources, while Cédric Carré, Hanne Rübner Holm and Thomas Barjolle form the technical team dedicated to repair and maintenance. Every sail follows the same path: design to the client's brief, assembly in the La Teste workshop, quality control and then delivery. Production is entirely Made in France and covered by a one year warranty.
The Offshore range is aimed at cruising and day sailing, with cross cut, oriented cut, gaff and in mast furling mainsails, cross cut and oriented cut genoas, solents, staysails and storm jibs, along with symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers, code 0 gennakers and furling code 3 spinnakers. The Racing range takes up the same families in a competition version and introduces the Starlight membrane on mainsails, genoas, jibs and code 0 gennakers, including a cable less version, with furling code 3 and code 5 spinnakers.
The rigging service starts with an analysis of the boat and its sailing programme. Starvoiles is an approved supplier for Facnor, Selden, Profurl, Harken and Karver furlers and top down furlers, builds complete running and standing rigging, selects deck hardware from a study of the deck plan and installs the equipment on board once the order reaches the workshop. The team repairs sails, from a simple patch to a recut, makes bespoke boom covers, lazy bags, genoa covers and deck covers in Dralon treated against UV and moisture, and maintains a catalogue of second hand sails sorted by type.
The workshop works with well known suppliers: Liros ropes, Harken, Wichard, Facnor and Karver hardware, Seldén, Z Spars, AG+ Spars, Sparcraft and VMG Soromap masts and spars, Contender and Dimension Polyant cloth. That marine know how feeds the VoilesDéco activity, which offers shade sails in micro perforated, pre stressed PVC or woven fabric, in more than fifty colours, with anodised aluminium masts, base plates, marine tensioning tackles and furling systems.
