Founded in the early 1990s, Tonnerre Gréement is based at 35 rue Ingénieur Henry Verrière in Lorient, at the heart of a major maritime hub. With thirty years of experience, the workshop serves private owners, boatyards and offshore racing teams alike, from light dinghies to maxi multihulls. This location allows fast response across Brittany, for a de-masting operation as well as for workshop work.
The shop brings together every rigging component. Masts come in cruising, racing and carbon ranges, mainly with Sparcraft, including stepping the mast on the boat. Cables are made to measure (shrouds, forestays, backstays, runners, guardrails), with swaging of any cable type including Rod on a hydraulic press, from suppliers such as ACMO, Sparcraft Rigging and Navtec, along with a composite range sold by the metre. Furling systems cover drum, strap, electric and hydraulic versions with Facnor, Profurl and Harken. Ropes, largely Gottifredi Maffioli, are offered in cruising, racing, mooring and traditional ranges. Deck hardware covers blocks, winches, tracks, hanks and shackles, and trampoline nets for multihulls are available in UV-treated polyester or Dyneema, developed with Sparcraft and AG+ Spars.
The 400 sqm rigging workshop handles masts up to 25 metres in length and includes a dedicated rope-work floor for cordage, with any type of termination made in house. Standing and running rigging maintenance is carried out in the workshop as well as dockside or at a boatyard. For mast and rig restoration, the team follows the whole project, new build or refit, and can take on a full refit including changes to the sail plan, adapting or replacing chainplates, redesigning the deck layout and painting the spars.
Support runs from advice and design study through sizing, installation and tuning, for racing and cruising alike. The workshop also carries out special fit-out projects: protective or fall-arrest netting, guardrails and skylight well nets, with materials chosen to suit (stainless steel, technical textile, cordage) for safety, reliability and visual integration on board.
