Marina Fort Louis

Marigot, Saint-Martin, FR

The port

Marina of 150 berths in the heart of Marigot, on the French side of Saint Martin, open to yachts up to 80 m and reachable from the sea without passing under any bridge.

Marina Fort Louis sits in Marigot Bay on the French side of Saint Martin, below the ruins of the fort that gave it its name. According to its official website it offers 150 berths for yachts up to 260 ft (about 80 m) with a 12 ft (3.6 m) draft, and the sea entrance requires passing under no bridge. Water and electricity are available on the docks, diesel is supplied at the marina (no petrol), and the harbour office, on VHF channel 16, helps with formalities: immigration control is compulsory on arrival and the marina can assist with port clearance. The shops and restaurants of Marigot are a few steps away. The marina is run by the Établissement Portuaire de Saint-Martin. According to the article on the fort (Wikipedia, citing the 1993 bulletin of the Hope Estate Archaeological Association), Fort Louis, which overlooks the bay, was reportedly built in 1789 under Louis XVI to protect the warehouses of Marigot harbour. Main sailing season runs from November to May.
