Marsden Yacht and Boat Club

Photo: Gadfium (CC0), via Wikimedia CommonsFounded in October 1974 as the Marsden Point Boat Club and renamed Marsden Yacht and Boat Club in 1994 to reflect its opening to both sailors and powerboat owners, the club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 (source: NZ Herald, 24/07/2024). Its clubrooms, on One Tree Point Road in One Tree Point, opened in 1992 on land leased from Whangarei District Council and were largely built through member volunteer work. The club runs junior sailing (Optimist, Laser, RS Feva, O'pen Skiff fleet) and watersports at the entrance to Whangarei Harbour, immediately next to Marsden Cove Marina.
