History

Founded in September 1889 to regulate local sporting fleets, the Société Nautique de La Ciotat is one of the historic sailing clubs of the Provençal coast, still active today at the Vieux Port. The club offers sailing (Optimist, dinghy, catamaran, windsurfing/wingfoil) and coastal rowing (a section created in 2003), with sailing, sport and competition schools, plus an inclusive Miniji section open since 2014 to both able-bodied sailors and sailors with disabilities. It has run the Coupe de la Baie de La Ciotat every year, the club's emblematic race since its founding, and was a pioneer in organizing model-boat races as early as 1891, forerunners of modern radio-controlled sailing.

Flagship events

La Ciotat Bay Cup, historic one-design regattas (Houari 4.50 m, 5.5 Metre, 6.5 Metre), model yacht regattas since 1891 (forerunners of radio-controlled sailing)
