Brest Maritime Festival
Marina du Château · July (every 4 years)
Every four years, the Fêtes maritimes de Brest turn the Rade de Brest into the world's largest gathering of tall ships and traditional sailing vessels. Born from the earlier Pors Beac'h gatherings and two editions in Douarnenez, the festival took its current Brest form in July 1992, the year the schooner La Recouvrance was launched with great ceremony. Along nearly 7 km of festive quays, stretching from the Port du Château to the banks of the Penfeld, several hundred vessels from around the world moor together, and the Marina du Château's own pontoons come alive with each edition. The most recent edition ran from 12 to 17 July 2024, and the ninth edition is announced for 9 to 14 July 2027.
