Semaine du Golfe (Gulf of Morbihan Sailing Week)

Port de Vannes · Early May (odd years)

Organised every two years by the Association Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan, based in Vannes, the event brings together around 1,400 traditional and classic vessels, including local sinagots, sailing in flotillas across the gulf's nineteen communes, among them Vannes, Île-aux-Moines, Arzon and Séné, over six days. The next edition is scheduled for 3-9 May 2027, its 14th. Around 3,500 volunteers help run what the association itself calls a "scattered maritime festival" spread across the whole gulf, shaped by its distinctive geography: islands, a narrow strait to the open sea, and reversing tidal currents. The programme combines regattas, on-water outings, port festivities and events on land.

For owners of classic yachts and maritime heritage professionals, the Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan ranks among Europe's largest gatherings of traditional sailing vessels, alongside Brest and Douarnenez. For FairWinds it stands apart on the Atlantic coast, far from the Mediterranean boat shows, and it is a useful reference point for any escale or logistics linked to the gulf's particular sailing conditions (tides, currents, multiple anchorages).
