A short drive from Marsden Cove Marina, the Grinter Glass workshop occupies a space at the Whangarei Town Basin. Keith Grinter took over its direction in 2013, after the sudden death of glassblower Keith Mahy, who had founded it. He describes his discovery of the craft in these terms, according to artshousetrust.co.nz: "one day of glass blowing and my life was ruined". The workshop is open to the public for free observation most days of the week, but also offers hands-on glass-blowing sessions by direct booking with Keith Grinter, from one to several hours, in small groups.
