The Villa Santo Sospir, 14 Avenue Jean Cocteau in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, belonged to Francine Weisweiller when she hosted Jean Cocteau there in 1950. According to the villa's official website, the artist, saying he was withering away, was offered the chance to draw above the sitting-room fireplace, a gesture that led to the villa's complete mural decoration (frescoes Cocteau called his tattoos), continued until his death in 1963. Listed as a historic monument in 2007, the villa remains privately owned and is visited by direct reservation in small groups. Source: santosospir.com. Contact: marina@santosospir.com.
