Guided workshop visit, Bijouterie Calvet garnet jewellery

Bijouterie Calvet, in Prades, is run by Catherine Calvet, the seventh generation of a house founded in 1804. The workshop, visible in operation, is complemented by a small museum upstairs. A private guided visit is offered by prior reservation for groups. Catalan garnet craftsmanship, which had nearly disappeared, saw a revival in the 1990s and has held a protected Geographical Indication since 2018, according to the Institut du Grenat. Note: Prades is about 45 to 50 minutes from Canet-en-Roussillon, further than most anchors in the catalogue.
