Clos Sainte Magdeleine, terraced vines below Cap Canaille

A twelve-hectare family vineyard terraced between the bay of Cassis and the cliffs of Cap Canaille, farmed organically and classified AOC Cassis.

Clos Sainte Magdeleine occupies a small headland of vines set between the bay of Cassis and the foot of Cap Canaille. Twelve terraced hectares, certified organic, produce white and rose wines under the AOC Cassis appellation. The soil, made of Cretaceous sandstone and sandy marl, gives the wines their mineral, saline character, shaped by the immediate proximity of the sea. The estate has belonged to the same family for four generations.

The visit follows a straightforward route: the sea-facing terrace, the vines, the press house, then the cellars, closing with a tasting of appellation wines. The property lies about ten minutes on foot from the centre of Cassis, which makes it a short shore outing with no particular logistics for a crew. The tasting room remains open for much of the year.
