Terre Bianche, Rossese on the Arcagna ridge

A family estate founded in 1870 on the white soils of Arcagna, above Dolceacqua, devoted to Rossese di Dolceacqua.

The Terre Bianche estate lies at Arcagna, on a ridge in the hinterland of Dolceacqua where a white soil outcrops and gave the house its name. The Rondelli family planted its first Rossese vines here in 1870; the estate is run today by Filippo Rondelli under certified organic farming. It produces Rossese di Dolceacqua, a grape confined to the far western end of Liguria, alongside whites from Vermentino and Pigato.

The place is as much a belvedere as a cellar: the Arcagna and Terrabianca parcels look down over the Nervia valley, some twenty minutes by road from the coast. The wines are tasted on site, in a working agricultural setting with no staging, in the grower's company. The estate opens only by direct agreement with the family, which preserves the private character of the moment. Restored farm buildings house agricultural lodgings.
