History
Founded in 1872 at the entrance to the Lorient roadstead, near Fort de Kernevel, the Société Nautique de Larmor-Plage is among the oldest sailing clubs in France - the town of Larmor-Plage describes it as the oldest club in the roadstead. The club runs sections for dinghies, Caravelle and intersérié keelboats, windsurfing and RS classes, and hosts a busy racing calendar: the Trophée Michel Beaudouin, the 48-hour FIGARMOR race, the Trophée Pierre Dubois at Larmor-Le Belon, the Windsurfer Tour France, and the women's regatta Une femme à la barre, created in 2009. The club has also hosted RS class European championships, confirming a sporting reach beyond the purely local level.
