Nice museums and opera house, privatisable spaces

The City of Nice opens a deliberately limited number of its heritage venues to privatisation, among them the opera house, Palais Lascaris and the Matisse museum.

Eight municipal sites are open to space rental: Villa Massena, the Nice opera house, the Matisse museum, the Jules Cheret fine arts museum, the Anatole Jakovsky naive art museum, Palais Lascaris, the Artistique theatre and the Mediterranean University Centre. The city states that it deliberately limits this list in order to preserve the integrity of the venues.

Each has its own character. Palais Lascaris is a seventeenth-century Genoese townhouse in the heart of old Nice, holding a collection of early musical instruments. The Matisse museum occupies a Genoese villa among the olive trees of Cimiez, above the city. Villa Massena and its garden open onto the promenade des Anglais. The file is handled directly with the city department, with no intermediary.
