Hamilton Island, Queensland, AU

The port

Private marina of Hamilton Island, in the heart of the Whitsundays, with 301 wet berths and berths for superyachts up to 45 m.

Hamilton Island Marina serves a private island in the Whitsundays, off the Queensland coast of Australia. According to the island's official website, it has 301 wet berths and 120 dry berths, including superyacht berths for vessels up to 45 m. Berths must be booked at least 24 hours before arrival, by phone, by VHF (channel 68) or online, and a 4-knot no-wash limit applies in the basin. On site, the marina offers shipwrights, detailing, mechanical services, a boat yard and chandlery, plus a travel lift haul-out on request. Visiting boats can fill their water tanks while berthed. Draft, fuel, customs formalities and the exact number of berths for larger vessels are not detailed by the official website. The marina office is open during the day (about 8 am to 4.30 pm).

History: according to Hamilton Island, Keith Williams owned and operated the island from 1975 to 1996; development of the resort began in 1982, after government approval for the marina. The marina hosts Hamilton Island Race Week every year, first held in April 1984 with 93 yachts before moving to August for steadier winds.
