The port
Leisure marina in the heart of George Town (Penang), set within the Straits Quay waterfront development, with direct walking access to the restaurants, boutiques and performing arts centre of the Tanjong Tokong district.
Set within the Straits Quay waterfront development, this is George Town's first seafront pleasure marina, in the capital of the state of Penang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opened in November 2010 in the Tanjong Tokong district, north of the historic town, the marina offers 40 floating pontoon berths for vessels from 10 to 25 metres, with potable water and 240V (32A/63A) power at every berth. A Boater's Centre (marina office, Wi-Fi, showers) welcomes crews, and advance booking is strongly recommended as berths are allocated subject to availability. The marina adjoins a waterfront retail gallery, Penang's performing arts centre (Penangpac) and a convention centre, and is presented by its operator as an intimate pleasure marina designed to be a meeting place for sailing enthusiasts. A water shuttle links the marina to the Eastern & Oriental Hotel, established in 1885 and presented by its owner as a heritage landmark of George Town.
