Royal Phuket Marina

Ko Kaew, Phuket, TH

The port

A Five Gold Anchor marina on Phuket's east coast, Thailand, and Asia's only carbon-neutral certified marina, founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Gulu Lalvani.

Located in Ko Kaew, on the east coast of Phuket island, Royal Phuket Marina was conceived and developed by entrepreneur Gulu Lalvani from 2002 onward. It claims to be Phuket's only marina certified Five Gold Anchor by the Yacht Harbour Association, alongside the International Clean Marina Award. A dredged channel gives, according to its operator, 24/7 access to boats up to 35 metres regardless of the tide, with a basin depth of 4 metres at low tide. Its 26 hard stand spaces are served by a 50-tonne travel lift, for vessels from 7 to 22 metres. Customs and immigration formalities for a foreign vessel are not handled on site: they are centralised at the yacht control centre of the Ao Chalong harbour office, in the south of the island (the same rule as at Phuket Yacht Haven, the zone's other FairWinds marina). On 28-29 November 2023, the marina became, according to its own operator, Asia's first and only carbon-neutral certified marina, certified by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), a Thai government body, after reducing and fully offsetting its emissions (640 metric tons of CO2).
