The port
Port de Beaulieu-sur-Mer is a 720-berth marina between Nice and Monaco, nestled at the foot of the Baie des Fourmis on the French Riviera.
Port de Beaulieu-sur-Mer lies on the French Riviera, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, between Nice and Monaco. The marina occupies a sheltered site framed by the Pointe des Fourmis to the south and the Pointe de Beaulieu to the north, at the foot of the Baie des Fourmis and the Petite Afrique beach. This setting, often described as enjoying a particularly mild microclimate, has made it a favoured stop along this stretch of the Mediterranean coast.
The marina offers 720 berths for pleasure craft. It is equipped with maintenance infrastructure, including a public hardstand area, along with standard port services such as weather updates, a webcam and account management. The port follows a recognised environmental approach, holding ISO certification and the "Ports Propres Actifs en Biodiversité" label, and it belongs to the Union des Ports de Plaisance Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur et Monaco.
Close to the port, Beaulieu-sur-Mer offers well-regarded restaurants and quality shops, within the elegant seaside resort atmosphere typical of the Riviera. The commune, one of the smallest in the Alpes-Maritimes by area, retains a notable architectural heritage, in particular the Villa Kérylos, a residence inspired by ancient Greece built in the early twentieth century by archaeologist Théodore Reinach.
The harbour site has a long history: according to the town, a port existed here as early as the Ligurian era, before the Romans arrived. Beaulieu-sur-Mer later developed as a Belle Époque resort after separating from Villefranche-sur-Mer in 1891, drawing an international clientele that, according to the town, included composer Igor Stravinsky, said to have worked on his ballet Petrouchka there during the winter of 1910-1911. The present-day marina itself was laid out in 1968.
