The port
Cala del Forte, a 178-berth marina opened in 2021 in Ventimiglia, is Monaco Ports' newest facility, less than 8 nautical miles from the Principality.
Cala del Forte lies in Ventimiglia, on the Riviera dei Fiori in Liguria, about 7.9 nautical miles (roughly fifteen minutes by fast boat) from the Principality of Monaco and close to the French-Italian border, making it a convenient stop between the Italian Riviera and the French Riviera, near Sanremo, Menton and Monaco.
The marina offers 178 berths for vessels ranging from 6.5 metres to over 70 metres, placing it among the facilities on this coast able to host large yachts. Its shoreside amenities cover roughly 15,000 square metres of gardens and walkways, with 582 parking spaces, electric-vehicle and electric-boat charging points, round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and staff, and a shipyard for vessel maintenance. The marina holds Blue Flag certification from the Foundation for Environmental Education.
The atmosphere combines a quiet, residential feel with a lively retail scene: about thirty shops, restaurants, cafes and a gym line the marina, and a lift connects the quay directly to Ventimiglia's old town in a matter of seconds, opening onto its squares, lanes and restaurants. A fast shuttle service, Monaco One, links the marina to Monaco's Port Hercule in about fifteen minutes, making it easy to travel between the two.
Inaugurated on 2 July 2021 in the presence of Prince Albert II of Monaco, Cala del Forte is operated by the Societe d'Exploitation des Ports de Monaco, making it the group's third port alongside Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille, under a concession running until 2094. The very first vessel to moor at the port's honour berth was Tuiga, the celebrated 1909 J-Class yacht, a nod to Monaco's sailing heritage marking the marina's launch.
