Middle East - season October → April
Good to know
The Arabian Gulf is a shallow, warm sea bordered by the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Its boating season follows the climate: from October to April, temperatures and humidity become bearable again, while the very hot and humid summer sees little leisure boating. This is when yachts arrive from the Mediterranean, the Red Sea or the Indian Ocean to winter in large-capacity marinas.
- Usual cruising season: October to April; summer is very hot and humid.
- The shamal, a north-westerly wind, can raise a short, uncomfortable sea in the Gulf, especially in winter and early summer.
- Each country (United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar...) applies its own entry and customs formalities to a foreign vessel.

FAQ
What is the best time to sail in the Gulf?
Roughly October to April, when temperatures are milder. In summer, heat and humidity make leisure boating unpleasant.
Do formalities have to be redone in each country?
Yes: each country applies its own visa and customs rules to a foreign vessel, worth checking before every change of country.
