Raised to mark the submission of the Alpine peoples to Rome, the Trophy of Augustus commands La Turbie and, beyond it, the whole Monaco roadstead. It is one of the few structures of its kind still standing. The site combines the monument itself, a museum with interactive displays, and a terraced park whose panorama runs from the Italian coast to the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. It is managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux.
The Centre des monuments nationaux lists the Trophy of Augustus within its private-hire offer, among its selection of exceptional monuments in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. The monument operates all year, on two seasonal opening ranges, with a weekly Monday closure. Access is by road from Monaco or Cap-d'Ail, some fifteen minutes of climb along the Moyenne or Grande Corniche. The park is stepped and calls for stable footwear.
