The port
Moored at the eastern tip of the Croisette facing the Lerins Islands, Port Pierre Canto in Cannes offers 553 berths for yachts up to 90 metres long.
Port Pierre Canto sits at the eastern tip of the Croisette in Cannes, between Palm Beach and Port du Moure Rouge, facing the Lerins Islands. Located on the French Riviera, in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, it opens directly onto the Mediterranean Sea with clear views over the Bay of Cannes.
The marina counts 553 berths and can accommodate vessels up to 90 metres in length, with water depth ranging from 2 to 7 metres depending on the mooring. The harbour office maintains round-the-clock video surveillance and a permanent VHF watch on channel 9. Berth holders have access to water and electricity connections, restrooms fitted for reduced mobility, self-service laundry facilities, a free wastewater pump-out service for boats up to 25 metres, high-speed wifi and a seasonal fuel station. A central plaza, the Espace Grand Large, opened in May 2021 as part of a renovation of the marina's pedestrian areas.
The marina sits alongside the beaches and venues that line the Croisette, with restaurants, bars and yachting-related businesses such as ship chandlers and repair workshops close at hand. The Pointe Croisette district, between Port Canto and Palm Beach, gathers part of Cannes' seafront life, within walking distance of the town centre and the Palais des Festivals along the seafront promenade.
The marina originates from a project put forward by Pierre Canto from 1958 onward; construction began in 1964 and was completed with its inauguration in 1966, after eighteen months of works funded entirely by its initiator. At the time of its creation, it was presented as one of the very first privately built marinas in France. According to some sources, its inauguration was placed under the patronage of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco. Privately run for forty years, the marina passed under municipal management in 2002 and has held Blue Flag certification since 2008.
